We’ll help your slides shine

You want your slides to look good, but more importantly you want your content to be memorable and persuasive. To do this, you need a professional graphic designer who understands how our brains process information and how we can bring your audience’s attention to where it matters most. We specialized in slide design, infographics, and taking technical information and showing it visual. But we can also work on other marketing collateral you might need (e.g. brochures, posters, social media marketing pieces, etc.).

The goal with slide decks is not just to avoid “Death by PowerPoint,” but to help the audience process the content. To do that, our goal is not necessarily to make the slides look pretty (though that is a nice benefit), but to make the most important element on that slide stand out visually, so it aligns with what you are saying verbally. If we can make the audience pay attention to what you’re saying and see that idea represented on the slide, it will help that message stick more effectively.

To see an idea of how we take a slide full of technical content, and turn it visual, check out the video below:

Our senior designer, Danielle Hennis, has worked with companies on redesigning their brand, logos, social media campaigns, and marketing their product or service, but her specialty is slide design. She focuses on helping you feel confident when you go to present, by making sure the slides communicate what you’re saying visually.

If you already have a slide deck, we’ll walk through your slides and suggest edits so that you’re in the Goldilocks zone (not showing too much or too little, but just enough), so it makes it easy for your audience to follow along. If you don’t have a deck yet, we’ll help you build one from the ground up.

Here are some examples of slides we have redesigned.

We work in PowerPoint, Google Slides, Keynote, Canva, or whatever slide software you use. We can teach you how to apply the design principles to your own slide deck, or we can do it for you. We have access to stock photos that we use (free for you), and in situations where you need your product, service, or location photographed to show it on the slides, we can set up a photoshoot to ensure what you’re talking about is accurately protrayed on your deck.

We regularly work with scientists, researchers, technical experts, postdocs, medical professionals, engineers, software developers, entreprenuers, and other experts on their presentations. We focus on taking complex information and turning them into engaging visuals that communicate your message and makes it easy for your audience to understand, be persuaded, and take action.

Want to talk to us about how we can help?

How do I design or make better slides in PowerPoint?

If you’re struggling with how to design content, we can either do one-on-one coaching to teach you the rules of graphic design, or you can sign up for one of our workshops and we’ll walk through how you use graphic design principles in PowerPoint. We’ll show you how to use master slides, so your slides are consistent; how to use hierarchy, so you bring your audience’s attention to where you want them to look (and don’t have them look at the points that don’t matter); and how to use built in PowerPoint features to create content that looks polished, doesn’t distract your audience, and makes your message stick.

Once you know the basics of graphic design principles, you can apply that to any slide software you wish.

Ok, but what if I don’t have time to learn? I would recommend you use us to redesign your slide deck if you don’t have the time to learn how to do so. While you can use AI to create your own slides, these often do not land with the audience, create slides that look nice, but don’t align with what you’re saying, or have too much text on the slide themselves.

PowerPoint is a terrible tool, why are you recommending it?

PowerPoint is the most robust slide software tool out there. If you learn how to use it right, you will create slides that people ask, “what software did you use for this deck?” (hint: it’s almost always PowerPoint). The problem is people have made slides in PowerPoint terribly over the years, so know it has a bad reputation. The tool isn’t bad, the way people design slides is.

Are you starting your slide with a title and bullets? Then stop.

Are you showing one slide for 3-5 minutes? Then stop.

You should be showing one idea at a time visually, and allowing your audience to focus on what you’re saying while you’re saying it by not asking them to read and listen at the same time. We can’t do that.

If you want to use Canva, Google Slides, or Keynote, we will happily work with you on them, but I guarantee anything you can do in those slide software, you can can do in PowerPoint better.

Can you work with Canva?

Yes, we work with slides in any slide software (including Canva). We are happy to work with you in whatever slide software works best for you. If you’re choosing Canva because you heard that it’s better though, I would encourage you to rethink your choice. It is harder to create consistent slide decks in Canva since currently they do not have a way to create parent or master changes over the whole deck, they don’t have plugins to speed up workflow, and while they have lovely templates, they often times don’t prioritize audience retention over making things look pretty.

How do you make better slides with AI?

Currently, most LLMs and AI apps will make a slide deck for you. It will even create what you should talk about in addition to the slides, and depending on what system you’re using, it can even create slides that look professional. However, they base these slides off of what they’ve seen done over and over, which is fill the slides full of text. They may do it in a way that there is hierarchy, or that they’re using the rule of thirds with an image on one side and text on the other, but I would encourage you to think beyond having the AI just create the content for you and instead think of what you want to say. Then ask the AI to help you create visuals about that idea. Don’t outsource the whole thought process to the AI, but instead be the project manager, and have it help you create the outline (that you edit), give you visual examples (that you curate), and then help you with the flow (that you review).
